Obesity

What is obesity?

Obesity and overweight which affects 10-14% of adults globally is defined as an abnormal or excessive fat accumulation that presents with adverse risks to health. Globally, it affects 10-14% of adults. It carries with it secondary health risks such as heart disease, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, cancer, breathing problems and kidney and liver diseases. It’s development is most commonly a result of an imbalance between calories consumed (from food and drink), and calories used by the body. There are also several other factors that contribute to this imbalance beyond a person’s control.
